The new color processor - 'LogiColor' Engine

A whole new color management is introduced in LUM-310X-CI for best color reproduction and control. 'LogiColor' engine based on Xilinx FPGA, converts all the (10bit non-linear YCC) input video signal into 24bit linear RGB color space (72bit per pixel) and process all the necessary calculation very fast. A most accurate color reproduction can be achieved especially in the mid-tone colors and highlight details and dark shades.

LUM_310X_CI overview 03

Also 'LogiColor' engine can navigate the preset modes 5 times faster than before, and provides more accurate control over parameters such as luminance, color temperatures, EOTFs (gamma) and color gamuts.

Display Panel Calibration

'LogiColor' uses a universal color space for color management that is absolutely wide enough to cover all the colors for BT.2020. And to make the best of the display panel's color gamut, in the calibration process, a 1D LUT and 3D LUT are created to compensate the non-linearity of the display panel used in the monitor. And the colors outside of the monitor's gamut is gracefully mapped onto the surface of the monitor's gamut while preserving the their original color HUEs.

LUM_310X_CI overview 04

Advanced 3D LUT Interpolation

A new interpolation algorithm is introduced to LUM-310X-CI. While maintaining the same 17×17×17 grid structure of the 3D LUT, a Triangular Pyramid Interpolation (=Tetrahedral Interpolation) used in IS-mini is now implemented into TVLogic LUM-series monitors starting with LUM-310X-CI. This new algorithm enhances color reproduction accuracy equal or even better than 33×33×33 grid 3D LUT with cubic interpolation.

Best-in-Class Gamut Mapping Algorithm

(BT.2020) colors outside the monitor’s gamut (color reproduction range) are gracefully mapped onto the surface of the monitor’s gamut. Now the brightness and/or saturation can be reduced while preserving the original Color HUE of the original (BT.2020) colors that is outside of the monitor's gamut. (*A 'Native Mode' is also offered to see all the colors to be proportionally scaled inside the monitor's gamut)   LEARN MORE

Professional Calibration Report

After every calibration, 'logiCAL' software automatically creates a professional PDF report on SDR and HDR calibration result. User can also create an HTML version of the report in the 'logiCAL' menu once the calibration is completed. The report provides all the detailed information on color reproduction in numbers, various graphs along with deltaE (color difference) calculations for gray levels and important colors such as GretagMacbeth 24 colors and EBU test colors both for SDR and HDR. This report will also be enclosed in the product box when shipping from TVLogic factory, and the report data will be available with 'logiCAL' software and 'WonderLookPro' software in near future.

Please visit 'Calibration Report' page for more information.

Make the most out of your probes - 'ProbeCAL'

Probe’s color measurement result is much more accurate now thanks to Multi-Color Matching method (90 color samples) instead of the traditional 4-color matrix method provided by the probe manufacturers. We have introduced a new calibration algorithm and successfully achieved high accuracy in mixed colors and dark shadow measurements. This method can also contribute to dealers and customers to enhance the measurement capability of their existing probes. Please contact your local distributor or TVLogic Qualified Service Center (TQSC) if you'd like to try this new method. And also visit 'ProbeCAL' page for more information.

LUM_310X_CI overview 09

Perceptual Matching to D65 reference light source

Even if we calibrated the monitor to match the measurement results with true D65 light, it often the case that the color of the monitor white looks little different from true D65 light. It was caused by the imperfection of CIE 1931 XYZ function and native error of the probes.

In order to eliminate this difference, we have introduced a perceptual matching process in our factory calibration of every monitor under 'LogiColor' color management system. To reproduce visually matched D65 white color with our reference light source (True D65), we create the parameters by the measurement of visually matched monitors' white, and perform factory calibration by using this parameter. This new approach reduces not only the difference between unit to unit, but also the visual difference between reference white (D65) color.

SDR Super White

In SDR and HDR modes (HD, UHD, PQ, HLG), the default video range is 'Narrow 100' (64 ~ 940) while in DCI mode, 'Full' (4~1019). You can also choose 'Narrow 109' for SDR which enables to reproduce super white up to 120nit, which means you can confirm the highlight details above 100% without clipping if the input signal carries any information above 100%.
SDR Super White

PQ EETF

EETF (Electro-Electro Transfer Function) is useful when the display has limited luminance verses the peak luminance of the PQ contents. When the EETF is set to 'ON', the highlights over 1,000nit range are compressed into 900~1,000nit range LUM-310X-CI. This mode helps to confirm above monitor maximum brightness colors details. Of course, the monitor can not reproduce correct brightness, but under this setting, the detail of the very bright objects can be confirmed, shading or existence of clipping.
PQ EETF

HLG System Gamma (1.2 / Auto)

HLG System Gamma varies according to the Peak Luminance of the display. If the HLG system gamma is set to ‘AUTO’, the system gamma will change according to the (clipping) luminance level. With the LUM-310X-CI, entering User mode will allow you to set the luminance level to ‘400 nit’ with a system gamma level of 1.2 to simulate how HLG will look in a monitor with a max luminance of 400 nit.
HLG System Gamma (1.2 / Auto)

Gamut Warning

When using the monitor in HDR mode of BT.2020 color space, colors that are outside of the monitor’s color gamut may be mapped onto the surface of the supported color scope with reduced saturation/brightness, while preserving the same color hue. Gamut warning function will show these mapped colors.

LUM-318G-CI firmware
LUM-310X-CI's firmware supports lociColor engine, and perform very accurate color reproduction for wide variety of color spaces. The architecture of color processing is completely different from older ones, so you SHOULD do calibration after firmware update.
So we strongly recommend to do firmware update preparing proper probe and enough time for the calibration.(a couple of hours)
If you have to use the monitor without calibration
If you updated the firmware from old version to LogiColor supported version, because of the difference of the color processing engine, the color of the monitor will be completely strange.
It is a temporaly method but you can import sample calibration setting to your monitor.
Please download sample data from here.

LUM-318G-CI Calibration data example download (.zip 435KB)

Start LogiCAL software to import the data and send the calibration data to the monitor by menu button and "Send LUT again" menu.
How to do firmware update
1. Download the firmware zip file and extract. There will be three files with ".bin" suffix.
2. Copy these three files to USB memory stick root folder. File format has to be FAT32.
